war garden 572  My own composition, 'Take No Notice!  The Foibles and Fallacies of Gardening.'  I'm in no position to create an 'Eleventh Commandment', but feel so many gardeners, especially newbies, seem to get the idea RBs and a Tunnel are obligatory.  I have neither, so express my opinion.  One can only advise what would be done in a similar situation.

    Very true.
There are very good reasons for using RBs, none of them are 'because everyone else is'.

It's like using growbags in a greenhouse when the soil below them is perfectly adequate.

war garden 572  @ 2350 words plus, that's one of the drawbacks to the 'Forum' format but, if everyone wrote on that scale, we'd have an encyclopaedia.  Best leave it as it is?

If only I had your expertise.  Over and out!
  • I love my raised bed, great to be able to garden at hip height.
