@AnniD As you are still dithering, I'll come in here and ask if your late Mum liked Morecambe and Wise? If so, perhaps the rose 'Bring Me Sunshine' might suit? it has a better scent than the two you are looking at.. and a deeper colour.
I have not grown Roald Dahl, but Dame Judi Dench has the most vicious thorns, rather flimsy petals and will want to grow as a climber.. what I liked about it most was its tarry scent, which not everyone will enjoy, rather like coal tar or diesel, - I love this smell, strangely perhaps, which is due to the organic compound phenol found in some roses, which is also an extract of coal tar.
..thorns on 'Dame Judi Dench'..
'Bring Me Sunshine'.. ..take your time in choosing the right rose in memory of your Mum..
Dame Judi Dench is very, very vigorous. It’s a good candidate for a tall obelisk (taller than you’d think), the side of an arch, trellis, etc. Very very floriferous, strong fragrance which I enjoy. Thorny, healthy. Hope that helps.
Those thorns on Judi Dench look lethal @Marlorena but I do still love that colour - so much better than beige. I shall just have to wear gloves when pegging it. I did it before with Scepter'd Isle in Belgium but need a more vigorous rose to get the same results here.
I've just found Alibaba at the online nursery I use. Might go for that instead as it would appear JD will fade too fast in our light levels.

Roald Dahl I find very sturdy with lots of strong growth. Quite healthy, with only light blackspot late in season for me, Grows to around 1.0m, very floriferous with quite a variation in colour of bloom as they age. It is a very shapely shrub making it good for a pot. Unfortunately no fragrance for me too though.
@Marlorena, thank you so much for your comments. Mum did like Morecambe and Wise, we always watched them at Christmas. Who knew that Dame Judi could be so vicious !
Mum died last August and l'm only now getting to the stage of thinking about what to plant in her memory. At the risk of sounding terribly cheesy, she was the type of woman who would bring sunshine into people's lives so that may well be a very good choice.
Thanks again , and also to everyone else who has commented
