What’s growing in my houseplant

I’ve just spotted this imposter in my pot. Can anyone identify it please

    It's just a little fungal fruiting body, nothing to worry about. Break it off if you find it unsightly.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    Inadequately sterilised compost.  But not a major problem.
     location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

  • Ah okay. The compost was sitting around in my garden for a while so I guess that’s why. Thank you very much.

    A-ha.  I've recently purchased some cheap seed starting soil at a dollar store and have been getting all kinds of little mushroomy things popping up - this explains it.
