  If its pulled off the leaves, it may not be viable. Leave it for now and see what happens though. Worth doing another as well though. 
  It can be annoying when that [seed case sticking] happens, but it usually drops off by itself. 

  It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  All sorts of seeds do this. Leave them alone.
  If you really are desperate to set the seedlings free try spraying lightly with water on a daily basis to soften the seed husk. Pulling them off manually is very risky as it usually leads to damaging the growing leaf. Onion seedling in particular seem to germinate with their little black seed husk hats sitting jauntily on top of the first leaves. They fall off eventually. I would bin it and start again.

  It's sooooo tempting to try and pull them off (like picking at a scab ) but try to resist.

  If you have a steady hand and nimble fingers you can carefully dab with water and once the seed pod is softened, prise off gently using a cocktail stick.
  However, unless it is really impeding the seedling, I agree with others and leave it to its own devices.
