Issue with lonicera nitida

Can anyone suggest the issue here with my lonicera nitida?

Is it frost damage, pest/disease damage, or human error applying fertiliser?

They aren't usually bothered by pests or frost - even severe frost.
Has it had fertiliser? They never really need food.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • My gardener applied fertiliser, possibly broadcast on the leaves, I'm wondering if that burnt it?

Possibly. Is it a proper gardener or just one of those crash and burn people? I'm guessing the latter.
They don't need fertilising. They just grow without any help.
I'd be asking what he's used and why.  They can be cut back hard without any problem, but it may not work.

  • OK thank you for your input, I'll find out, looks to be the only plausible explanation

If you think fertiliser has been applied - too strong or an inappropriate one, you can try washing them thoroughly with a hose, but it may be a bit late to get it flushed away well. You'd just have to wait and see if they come away again, and can then be trimmed back.
No harm in doing that though. Very annoying for you  :/
