Hebe Problem

Hi, is anyone able to identify what is happening to my Hebe? It was thriving then suddenly this weird almost burnt looking issue started spreading across it.

Winter weather damage most likely. Very common, especially this year. Wet then freezing is what they dislike.
They don't always respond well to cutting back either, but wait and see if you get any regrowth before doing that. In wetter areas they tend to die back permanently when they get that kind of damage.
Either that, or something peeing on it. Cats etc.

Variegated ones are always more vulnerable too.

I went for a walk this morning saw three looking very much the same. They can be cut back but not until spring, they take a long time to reshoot.  Sometimes it isn't worth the wait for their recovery.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

I no longer grow them because of their vulnerability to cold.  It's a shame because they are good border fillers and complement many other plants.

I was out for lunch, there was a row of dead ones all along the front of the pub. Even my 'Midsummer Beauty' looks a bit rough
