    Clear acrylic is a good alternative to polycarbonate whether for CF or GH.
    That aside, it sounds as if you like to grow quite a variety of plants so if your budget will stretch to a a GH, it would certainly help with the likes of toms, peppers, chillies as @Fairygirl says but your location is also an important factor.  Peas, beans and courgettes will also work well in the raised beds or in suitably large containers.
