Is the a seed pod (or what?)

madpenguinmadpenguin Posts: 2,543
My Orbea woodii flowered profusely last August eventually having over 50 blooms over the course of a few weeks!

Since then there have been 2 growths developing over the winter from where flowers were and I am wondering if these could be seed pods?

Has anyone else grown this succulent and had these produced.
I may just have to wait and see what happens!!!

No idea, but I love those flowers.

    Thank you.
I thought they might be seed pods.
Now I shall wait and let them do their thing!
I see they are pollinated by flies so good to see the conditions are right for my plant.

It looks like you've got a seed pod in your first picture with flowers in it too, on the left.

I think you are possibly looking at flowers which are about to open in the first picture, they are a bit like little balloons!
The seed pods didn't become noticeable for some time after flowering.

The plants shown look similar to Stapelia - I have S variegata ( Star flower) and they too are pollinated by flies - beautiful flowers but they do stink  ;)
Flower well and the pods on mine produce plenty of seeds which are easy to germinate.

Stapelia and Orbea used to be regarded as the same but it has now been divided up so they are separate now!

Hard to keep up with the changes sometimes.  Stinky Stapelia is easier to say than Olfactory Orbea  :D  Whatever name they prefer, they are one of my favourites.
