What about a Hoheria Sexstylosa tree? Fast growing, covered in lovely white flowers during summer, grows like a pyramid shape and relatively easy to maintain. Prune to desired height and shape. However, I am not a dog owner so don't know whether there are any negatives surrounding this tree with regards to animals.
One of my dogs had a very unusual episode where she temporarily couldn’t walk, was shaking violently, and didn’t eat or drink for some hours but she thankfully fully recovered. I found a bit of Pieris japonica lying on the deck and her symptoms seemed to match poisoning from that shrub. I dug out the whole plant just to be on the safe side and would avoid this shrub if you have mischievous dogs about.
