Just looking at your last post @nonenone. Is there a chance someone has diverted the water supply 'further up'? At our last house, we were at the bottom of the hill in terms of residential properties. The farmer had a disagreement with the property owner directly across from him so he 'accidentally' broke the pipeline, just to p*ss them off. Obviously it affected us, and the house across from us, and that's where the other source [a well] would have been useful to be hooked into. The chap across from us informed us of that other source, with a bit of a smile, so it had clearly happened before. The farmer did come and apologise, but he was a wee nyaff, and I had to say to OH - 'just keep smiling and waving when you see him...'

I wonder if it would also be easier to grow slightly less @nonenone? The stuff you're growing from seed anyway. Very difficult. The SW of Scotland is so different from further north and I don't think people realise that. Further north than me the annual rainfall gets measured in metres rather than feet. I expect collecting water in anything you can is the answer too- or helps a bit. Cheap dustbins, buckets - anything you can get hold of that'll hold water.
Yes collecting water is a good option, it works until the containers run dry and no rain arrives to fill them up again! I clearly need to buy some more buckets!
This year I'm trying dwarf varieties of as many veg as I can and drought tolerant too if I can find them. I've been offered some llama poo which will also help things along.Whatever happens I'll enjoy trying.
@thevictorian - think it might tricky getting the pipeline in place...
I hope you can get a solution @nonenone. It's easier if you have loads of room for collecting water too, but it also comes down to finances. You can get tanks etc put in, but if you're renting, that's problematic right away. Even if you were allowed, would it be financially viable etc.
