Electric lawn mower - do you get it serviced?

Do you get it serviced or buy replacement blades and replace yourself please? Mine is over 10 years old and it may need some TLC this year.

I got a griding attachment for my Bosch hand drill and tried to polish the blades but to no avail. It cuts but perhaps can cut better with new blades? It's a Qualcast.
I wish I could garden all year round!

    I'd think it was up to you really. If you are competant, do it yourself.  If not, find someone locally ( preferably recommended by neighbours ) to do it for you.
    Both Bosch and Qualcast used to be good reliable makes but I don't know whether this is still true.

    @M33R4 with plug in electric mowers and cordless mowers you clean them and replace the blades yourself.   The mowers that need to be serviced are petrol mowers.

    Thanks Ross. It may take some WD40 to loosen the original bolts that hold the blades in  :#

    The most important thing about servicing an electric mower is safety so they need PAT testing on a yearly basis and an RCD in the power system

    The blades for most of those small mowers are fairly inexpensive, and usually cheaper than getting them sharpened, which is always annoying. I have a fairly cheap mower now and have had Qualcast and Bosch etc in the past.  I've sharpened my own blades. Not brilliant, but does the job.
    They don't really need serviced as @rossdriscoll13 says. It's only the bigger petrol, or ride on ones that need more attention. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Electrical items including mowers used only for domestic use don't need to be PAT tested. If you have a business and an employee uses the mower I think it would. Not sure about a solo self-employed gardener where only that person uses it.
    I agree an RCD is a must for a plug-in mower.
