I still start plants/seeds off in the house @maxijam, but it really just depends on your climate and conditions as to when you can put anything out there. In general, from later autumn until approx. this time of year, the growhouse is the same temps as outside, apart from when it's sunny, and that's pretty variable here. I always err on the side of caution.
I did put dahlia tubers out there last year - but I'd just bought them, and they were all sprouting. I gave them some extra protection with a clear plastic box I had. I expect that was around late April.
I wouldn't really have had room in the house as the windowsills would have had all the other stuff on them. I grow a lot of sweet peas and morning glory etc, and also tomatoes, and a few other things, so most of them need to be inside until at least mid May. I usually put the sweet peas out there in April though, and plant outside in May.

If it's mainly veg you're using it for, that will make a difference, and it's hard for me to judge based on my climate. We certainly couldn't grow things like aubergines or peppers, outside. Even cucumbers would be difficult without protection. Too unreliable.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Great, thanks @Fairygirlamd everyone. I'm gojng to have a look at the mini hardwood greenhouse you said about and have a think. I suspect it also depends on what the weather decides to throw at us this year!

    It's always a juggling act @maxijam ;)
Good luck though, with whatever you decide on.  :)
