Preparing a new flowerbed

  • Ha funny you say that @Randommoose1 as I have been noseying through your threads! I'm excited to see how your bed beside the patio progresses.

Thanks for the advice. I do enjoy the satisfaction of getting to a weed's taproot!
We can both see how progress goes this year!

I just got a hori hori knife and it is SO good for getting the taproots out! Much easier than a thin trowel or pointy weeder tool. Getting dandelions out is really easy now.

I'm also digging out new beds. I'm impatient too, lol, so I've always just dug & pulled the grass, left it a couple of weeks, weeded again and put plants in which can grow in the conditions.
We left the lawn edges to grow wild for a couple of years, but just ended up with a lot of couch grass - joy.. 😑
I'm leaving the dandelions in because I plant for the bees as much as anything, so half of the plants will be wildflowers - and the dandelion leaves are tasty in a salad.
