Thujas looking dull

I have a few thujas in my garden and I've noticed the leaves are turning dull/brownish - hopefully the photo is clear enough.

I don't think they're underwatered, although it's been really dry in the south east, so I've watered them just in case, but any other ideas of what it could be?

It might well be down to the dry hot weather that we had last Summer, but Thuja can turn brown at the leaf tips in the Winter in my experience.

I've had a look online to see if l can find any more information, and noted the comments about generally not watering between November and March, and when temperatures are below 10c. Of course this is based on a "normal" Winter, and if your garden is anything like mine, things are pretty dry.

Do you know how old they are ?

Thank you for replying - yes it may well be a hangover from last summer! They were planted 5 years ago and have been very healthy and have grown really well since then - it's just this winter that they've started looking a bit sad.

Fingers crossed they perk up a bit!

The thujas have now started flowering so hopefully this means they're not dying!

Just looking out of the window at my Thuja plicata atrovirens.  The tips do look brownish, but I think it is the cones beginning to form.  The tips may go browner just in the cold.
