I doubt you'll get bare root of those easily, apart from hedging suppliers and it would be expensive to get just one specimen.

Great, thanks, februarysgirl and Plantminded - I'm going to have to get my skates on (and that's after I've actually managed to dig a suitable sized hole in the bed to check that it doesn't cover a limestone pavement, as we seem to have elsewhere in this inhospitable plot!).
Roots Trees specialise in bare root trees, bit expensive though, I think I would pick up the hawthorn and rowan as 40-60cm bare root hedging plants (which would cost a few quid each) - depends how patient you are.
