Forum Glitches

This one annoys me sometimes. When I type @ and members name the box comes up over the fonts thereby making it awkward to type more. Does it happen to anyone else and any ideas how to stop it please?

Yes, I get that, sometimes two boxes of names appear making it even more fun to select the right name!  It happens on my desktop and iPad.

You just click the name and it goes.

No it doesn't on mine @slowworm. Sometimes, happened just now when typing your name, all I get is @Slow

It's a right royal PITA and is another thing that's been happening for ages. It doesn't always clear properly - same with the emojis.

I prefer no @anything. just my pen-name.  Also no emojis, too small to read and just a waste of time.

I prefer to user names and not the @ also bede and didn't use it for a long time but just slipped into the habit because it seemed easier than typing out a long name.

It seems then that others have the same problem as me but going by the photo problem nothing will be done about it.

Using the @ is the only way to alert you, that you have been mentioned. I find it very helpful.
When a poster uses it, you get an alert.

That's exactly the point of the '@' symbol. It wouldn't exist if it wasn't for alerting people to a post on a thread they post on, or a thread they've started.
It is very helpful indeed to most people @punkdoc :)
