What to do with an Amaryllis?

Hi,

Ive had an Amaryllis in the house. The leaves have died back. What do I do with the bulb? Shall I leave it in its pot? Give it some plant food and a little water then leave it in a dark place?

It hasnt bloomed for 2 years, so not sure if its got much life left in it(?)

Thanks

If the leaves have died back there is no point watering it or feeding it. Personally, if it hasn't flowered for two years I would chuck it.
  • Really? OK. I have had it for about 5 years, so perhaps its used up all its energy.
  • Have you given it at least 2 months of dormancy each year? ie let it dry in a cool place, cab be in its original pot? Link here to guide: https://www.howdoesyourgardenmow.com/amaryllis-uk/

Mine wasn't waking up so I gave it a good soak and its growing again now. Some care guides suggest soaking the bulb to wake it up every time. This has reminded me to start feeding mine - thanks!
