I too went googling as I had never heard of microclover.  Found this: https://www.prettywildseeds.co.uk/product/micro-clover-euromic-very-low-growing-micro-clover-trifolium-repens-seed-2666

This could be the answer for me - after last year's drought and then the rain the weeds have run riot so I think they'll get pulled up and I can sow with this.  Perhaps I'll document before, during and after!
Gardening in East Suffolk on dry sandy soil.
  • Well that's interesting didyw. I have ordered 1Kg of seed from Pretty Wild seeds on Monday and it turned up today. So as they advised wait until end of April / May to sow it and see what happens. I will report back

I am interested in sowing micro clover to prevent bare earth in beds - and as a green manure. I would like to hear people's experiences. This site says

"It is characterized by an extremely low growth habit (upto 6 inches) and almost no flower formation with regular use."

I have no idea what "regular use" means here. I want the flowers as well as the green. Would micro clover have less flowering capacity than regular white clover? Six inches doesn't seem "extremely low" in lawn terms.

Normal dutch clover grows upto 2 foot high and the leaves can be several inches in width.

What? Do you think we might all have micro clover? Several inches in width?!?! WHAT?

I guess most of us see white clover in regularly mown lawns - so it gets much smaller then it would left to its own devices - ?
  • Well at the moment I am getting good germination of the grass.
But you have to get down and look for the micro Clover it is Tiny.
No more than 3mm across the leaves.
If I dint know it was there I would not see it.
