Money plant help

Hi, I’ve had this money plant for a few years. I’ve noticed some of the leaves are looking a bit yellow.

Could this be because it’s under watered?

The pot looks a bit small and there doesn't seem to be much soil.

I google money plant because that's not either if the plants that I know by that name. I think yours is Pachira aquatica. Despite the name, it should be watered like any other houseplant - give it a drink when the top couple of inches of compost is dry (stick your finger in to check), and pour away the excess from the saucer/outer pot so it isn't standing in water. If it dries out really quickly, check whether its roots have filled the pot. If they have, it needs potting on into a bigger pot. Springtime is best for most houseplants.
Also bear in mind that it's normal for older leaves to turn yellow and fall.
I always worry about those braided stems. Woody stems want to get thicker as the plant grows and I wonder if the braiding constricts them. Maybe it's fine, I don't know.

Also check for spider mites or thrips.  They are tiny, use a magnifying glass to look at the underside of the leaf in good lighting.

Also, when was the last time you repotted it?  Maybe consider repotting in a slightly larger pot (a few inches wider across the top) in the spring, and giving it a light feeding once a month.
