Can you recommend a plant or flower

To grow in a cold greenhouse that will provide scent when we are in there. I have a soil bed so all I smell when I sit in there is Damp soil. Not particularly pleasant!

I have a Rhododendron cubtii, but there are many other scented varieties.  Good for April.

I also have a couple of Oleanders in pots that I move out in the summser, but I don't need to.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

Jasmine polyanthum is a house plant with very fragrant white flowers in later winter and spring. It can also be grown up a trellis in a greenhouse or conservatory but needs to be indoors in winter, can be pruned. It needs quite a bit of water.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Depends what space you have and whether you want a shrub, a climber, bulbs etc..  Also when are you in there ?  Just in Spring/summer or on and off all year round ?
Saracocca ( sweet box) is flowering now and doesn't grow to any great size.  L regale and some of the smaller scented daffs would provide ongoing scent.  A C armandii Apple Blossom is nicely scented but will grow quite large - particularly in a GH.
It would help others to advise if you gave more info - location, aspect, size of GH, what else you plan to grow in there on an annual basis as a starter.

Jasminum officinale is a good one to have with a strong scent, it'll also grow outdoors if it outgrows the greenhouse as proved with mine this winter, it stood up to minus 5 here and is still looking really good.
