  • As an alternative to Privet, you could consider Lonicera nitida.  Makes a good dense hedge and can be kept in shape and the required height without too much effort. :)

It looks really good, just a couple of minor tweaks! I’d remove the triangle of lawn between the path and flower bed and add that to the flower bed, will be a pain to mow that bit! If you push on of your veg beds up to the fence you could get 3 beds in if you wanted, and I thought some stepping stones in the lawn to the trampoline might be fun?

Are you planning to use your decking area for sitting on/entertaining as well as your patio @Boswaldo?  If not, you probably won't need to screen the trampoline, veg beds and compost area from the decking side.

A simple horizontal hedge to screen your trampoline from your house and patio view would make it easier to maintain the hedge as well as retaining a sense of space and width in your garden.  (I'm not a fan of using trellis.)

I'd recommend Griselinia littoralis for your screening hedge, it's evergreen, fast growing and easy to maintain as a slim hedge.  I have one beside my patio, the hedge is 6 feet high but just a foot in depth.  Griselinia is happy in sun and part shade and most soils.

I had a long thin garden in a previous property and used Griselinia to divide it half way.  Your garden is much wider but these before and after photos may help you:

@Boswaldo, that looks fine to me, I wouldn't worry about it, in a month or so you won't even notice.
Great that you managed to get a free greenhouse!
