Pruning a large hebe

I’m going to look at pruning my large hebe in March/April can anyone give me any tips on how to do it.
 If I cut away all the green it will just leave the wood , will it regenerate 
it’s rather large and taking over the shrub border but equally a good fuller and pretty

    It largely depends on your climate. Cutting back hard can see them die if they don't have the right conditions. They often die here. 
    I certainly wouldn't do it in spring.  :)
    You can always try it, and use the cut material for cuttings to replace it if it doesn't make it.
    They're best trimmed lightly after flowering, or in late summer/early autumn. That keeps them at a reasonable size, but it also depends on variety - some are more robust than others.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I have a couple that need pruning and I've decided to do them after they have flowered early summer. I'll then give them a sprinkling of blood, fish and bone and hopefully they will put on new growth before the autumn.

    Some Hebes flower better than others. I am not sure from your photo if you grow yours for flowers or just for it's evergreen leaves and shape.They can be pruned here in the South Midlands but they take a long time to regrow if cut back hard. 
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
