Adam is a trained planstman, an award winnng garden designer and a good communicator too so his credentials are excellent. I like him a lot - and his cat and his dog!
Monty has earned his living for decades by writing about gardening and is a good communicator but he is prone to giving us the wrong info and his habit of learning by trial and error can be very expensive in both time and money for anyone who follows his first attempts at a new project. I like the proper dogs.

Adam always make me laugh since he had a letter from a concerned viewer worried about his muddy knees I'm sure that he gets as muddy as possible just to wind them up.
I can't wait for the day MD retires. and I think his garden is awful. The hedges are too high and claustrophobic and the paths are so narrow , some of them aren't even paths, especially in the bus stop garden. He can't even put both his feet side by side on them. What's the point ?
I found the astrantia man so inspiring. I had mixed success last year... my Roma was rampant, my Venices grew but never flowered... this year I will give them all more shade and cross my fingers. And will sow more scabiosa as insurance, since the flowers are a little similar. It was interesting he said astrantia also had a pincushion nickname, too.
forgive me for expressing MY opinion. Plenty of others have expressed theirs
Yes, @Hostafan1 you certainly CAN have your opinion. But MD's hedges are not too high, nor the paths too narrow - if that's how he wants them. I enjoy the variety he has available, which means he can provide a wide range of techniques and grow many different plants.
If you like lower hedges and wider paths, as I do, then we keep them that way. I dislike being too enclosed. I much prefer wide open spaces.

My Astrantia plants took 3 years before they archived last year their glory.

A path that's too narrow to have both feet side by side ISN'T a path IMHO. But we can agree to disagree on this one.

If they are, it shouldn't worry anyone else.

I ♥ my garden.

Have a great evening.
