I managed to get it online - eventually. The serial number on my cooker was wrong. Managed to access manual by putting in the number for a different coloured model.

Heres mine,my kitchen is only 7ft long,at the end of the lounge.just out of sight is the microwave, hubby made a stand for that... the bread bin lives underneath, corner cupboard,sink... small round,no drainer, dishwasher (small) pull out spice rack, back door to conservatory. The hob was a showroom model never used, half price,no guarantee, thermostat went after a couple of months, and zannusi repaired it for free!

One thing I'm finding it hard to get used to is, with gas,, you put it on a low flame and it would eventually boil. I would do this and go off and do something else while I was waiting for it to be ready cook my pasta or rice. With induction, you put it on a low setting and there it stays at whatever temperature.. It's a nuisance having to  have to keep an eye on it at a high setting to be ready when it boils.

I have to admit, I don't put cooking on burners and go off and do anything else.
  • When I bought my cottage the combi oven was left and I love it. It has 2 ovens side by side, both fan, one fast, one slower, side hinges, and 6 gas rings on the hob, 1 small, 2 mediums, and 1 large, run from 2 large butane gas cylinders as I am not on mains gas supply, they last approximately 12 months each. I affectionately christened the oven "The Beast" because it is so large.
Recently I invested in an air fryer/oven which I am slowly learning to use. I have just discovered the only recipes for biscuits in the recipe book I bought and online are shortbread and oaty things. No idea why. I am paranoid about the high, fast heat as I do not want to burn or shrivel a dish I have spent time preparing but I will get there eventually. It has rotisserie and dehydrator settings yet to be explored.  It has a drop-down front door and is 40ltrs capacity so more like a miniature oven. We are slowly becoming friends.
    Relationships take time to develop.

All this new technology is a bit scary but some is real progress and  some will end up in the garage.
I'm not a great one for crispy beige stuff but the air fryer is worth keeping for that kind of thing. Me and my gas cooker grew old together .The best has been and gone.
@Joyce Goldenlily , I reckon you could open a gourmet restaurant with your beast.

  • My mini cooker did French Fries almost OK for me, must remember to take them out a bit sooner. Likewise "crispy beige stuff". I am definitely not a fan.
I am sure I will grow to quite like it eventually but it will never replace the sheer joy of cooking a full roast, with all of the trimmings in my Beast.
It is like all of the kitchen gadgets I have, like the cherry stoner, the shucking knife, the larding needle etc. etc. etc. I very rarely use them, but it is lovely to have them on the rare occasions when I need them.

Just popped on to this thread to say that I have officially bonded with the induction hob ( not literally). I would not go back to the gas hob.
    You were all dead right😊

Well done, B3! It did take me a while to experiment with the settings, but once I’d got the hang of it, I certainly wouldn’t go back to gas.
I bought a Tefal stir fry pan in Sainsbury’s yesterday, reduced to £12.50, and suitable for induction. Cooked up red and green peppers with onions, plus noodles, quick and easy and no burnt edges on the pan to clean off afterwards!

    It's certainly a lot cleaner!
