It was fteature on last night's Britain's Best Chef, as "pickled wild leek".  Sounds delicious.
I didn't expect to be able to quote myself.  Great for the egotists.

correction:  The programe was "Great British Chefs".
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

Have you got a pic @macfall? Or can you remember which ones they are, as you say you bought them  :)

The foliage is different depending on which allium you have, and as @GardenerSuze says - if you bought them 'in the green' you won't have seen flowers. Small bulbs will be less likely to flower, but they can't spread unless they're mature enough to multiply.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

We got rid of all our our Alliums a few years ago, as they were too invasive. This included Purple Sensation, Sphaerocephalon, and a white one (which wasn't any of the ones mentioned above).

It took a good few years of digging out every bulb or shoot that appeared, but if you are persistent it does work. Make sure you don't let the seedhead fully develop to the point where they start to drop seeds.

We do miss them, but the foliage is a real mess after they have flowered, and it was crowding out other plants.
