    @Cats26 Hopefully you have the start of a plan. Materials such as wood for a large container can be very expensive so perhaps time for some research.  Good Luck. 
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    If you go for a raised bed, open to the ground, a hawthorn hedge would be a candidate. It would stand up to any wind, and also good for wildlife.
    Blackthorn would be good as well, and you could use the sloes to flavour your gin.  :)

    It also depends on where the screening is going, and if it's beside a patio or dining area etc. Aspect , and whether all year round cover is needed, time for maintenance , are also factors.  :)

    Blackthorn is great as a barrier for filtering wind, as is hawthorn, but not great for sitting near, and blackthorn also suckers like a b*^&£$Q. I'm in the process of removing mine   :|
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
