Some of the pictures might be for the Close up flower pages, but I still try it here. I finished so far the planting. Last year, I was so unhappy with my planting as it turned out that having 5 different plants and they all were some sort of lilac wasn't what we can show more than once. This year, I had 15 different plants starting with wildflowers. They were much harder than I had thought. Some of them, if not eaten, have now grounded and show signs of growth. I also had around 10 annuals which I wanted to have as soil improver and to save money. Seeing however the slow grow, I bought 10 plants a £6 at our local garden centre of which I'm very happy with as they give the bed the right mix that I love to have. I counted yesterday all the plants in the bigger bed, and found 132 of 56 different types. Unbelievable.
My paradise
The yellow (?) foxtail is always a month ahead of the white (?) foxtail, or was it versus versa?
One of the purchased plants. A Campanula, a "glom. Superba". I don't expect the flowers next year so early.
I took out 3 out of 5 Hidcote lavender plants and replaced it with French lavender. The pot with little water pot on top in the background is an idea that I got from the GW Wildlife magazine that I had bought in winter. When I planted around, I tried to lift it carefully to see if there is life in there. To my surprise, there is an ant house inside. I corrected my mistake immediately and put it back as it was.
My 7 years old, glorious Delphinium was eaten to death by slugs this year and instead of being one of the first showstoppers, it was in a very sad stage. I found a new one at my local garden centre and it gets now special care. It will take another year before it starts to grow as multi-stem.
I planted a lot of annuals. Hopefully they will turn out nicely. The plant on the right is a Monarda (Bergamot) also bought for £6.
A Campanula Takion Blue
A foxglove. planted in March gets now first flower heads.
Campanula "pers. alba"
In 2020, I bought a Linaria Canon Went and collected the seeds. I planted this one in 2021 and it's now in its 3rd year and I have to say it gets bigger and bigger and the leaves change to much fuller and bigger.
A Common Sorrel in the foreground. The pile of bricks is another hotel for whatever wants to live there. That yellowish leave on the right belongs to a (green) Hollyhocks. The snapdragons behind it have grown since then, and the Linaria "Lilac Time" next to it was grown from seeds.
I do hope I can take more exciting pictures this year if everything grows.
