    I’d say it’s good for a wildlife pond but not an ornamental fish pond ,should get frogs and newts in it but it probably won’t be pretty as it’ll be hard to grow any flowers there .Just my opinion .

    You could try marsh marigolds in those conditions.  They supposedly need full sun, but I've seen them growing locally in the wild near here in a shaded wooded area that floods. I have some doing nicely in a corner of my pond that only gets sun for a small part of the day.

    Absolutely @borgadr - Caltha [marsh marigold] will grow in sun or shade, and can be used as a marginal so it doesn't matter what the soil is like. I've done both  in various ponds. The white ones are slightly fussier, but the bog standard yellow one will be fine and multiplies readily.  :)
    There are plenty of flowering plants which will be fine around the pond if needed, depending on soil and sun. It may tend to be drier due to the trees, apart from in winter, but that also depends on climate and soil type.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
