Looks amazing! Lots of hard work payed off and good suggestions here. I would make one suggestion for the future though it might be difficult with the plants growing on it. Paint the garage a colour that makes it recede rather than brings it to the front. Still it's a massive garden and so much work do feel free to ignore that suggestion and well done!

I must confess I hadn't even noticed the garage! Too interested in those lovely borders....

Painting the garage had been suggested early in this thread, though now it's planted I didn't notice the garage.

Thanks for posting the update - the borders look fabulous!  I love the idea of squashes trailing into the path - you've got the space so why not?

All your hard work has paid off.  Love it!

  • Brilliant. That is a true cottage garden. Edibles mixed with flowers. How about a few wigwams for runner and climbing beans to introduce more height variation, crop varieties and colour?
    Just a thought.
    Well done.

    Thanks again, everyone.

Re the garage, it's not on the cards, at the moment anyway. I'd personally love to get it boarded (or whatever it's called) but finances don't allow, sadly.

Height - there were sugar snap peas a bit further towards the house on the left, but we've had dreadful winds and it is a very exposed site and the whole lot got demolished, canes literally snapped. I've got beans up wigwams at the back and was thinking of having them at the front next year but I'm having second thoughts on that now. The longer term plan is to add shrubs to the back on the right to give a bit of protection but that will of course take time to establish.

Thanks for the votes on the squashes!
