    Right but seriously, is it cheaper to buy mashed potato than to pay for the energy to boil your own? Genuine question. I've never even considered buying mashed potato (or grated cheese come to that) so I haven't ever done that sum.....

    I could forgive someone buying mash, for an easy meal perhaps if you are unwell etc, but
    grated cheese, sliced raw carrots, sliced mushrooms etc is frivolous imo. 
    My garden and I live in South Wales.
