I would discount a lot of the above,dry stone wall,brick wall. You don't want a barrier,you want to tease people,ooh is there something else past here. I like that you have the path winding just at that point. How big exactly width, length is your garden. It's very difficult to gage from a photo. I know estate agents have these magic cameras. You find this lovely property with a good size garden,go and view,and it's 40 feet. How about an arch over the path,at an angle,tall grasses to the left of it.
Grasses can make a lovely screen. Only drawback is you cut them down in early spring, and it takes them a few weeks to regain any height. However sometimes this effect (called a 'summer hedge') is a positive thing.
