It's really difficult to stop a shed being damp, and it'll also depend on how damp the plants are when you put them in, and what your climate is like. I re roofed mine a couple of years ago, but there's a leak near the door. By the time I checked them about a month ago, it was too late. The wall of ice didn't help. I'd slightly insulated a shelved area for a couple of them but it wasn't enough - I had a look today after I came in. One looks semi ok, so I've brought it into the house. Not holding my breath. A cool cupboard, or a loft or something is fine - any place where you don't have any central heating etc. A porch is perfect if you have one, although they can get warm early in the year, so you have to bear that in mind too. I used to keep them in a conservatory, but as @Buttercupdays says - you do have to keep taking a look at them
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Shed was ok last winter and most of the stored tubers survived ok. Discovered recently that a lot more rain is now getting in and the shelf where I'd put them this time may as well have been outside
Part of me is delighted that the shed is closer to its useful end. Then I can replace it with a greenhouse
The porch should be ideal @louise.whittington100, but keep an eye on them once they start into growth, which could be quite early as it will tend to be warmer. The light's important as @Buttercupdays says, so that should be fine, but they might grow a lot before they can safely go out. Always a bit of juggling involved. You can pinch them out though, if they get a bit leggy @Biglad, because I'd felt the shed was staying much drier after re roofing it, I thought I'd risk it, and the tubers had got so big that I wouldn't have had room in the house, unless I made one of the girls sleep in the shed and the dahlias could have had their bedroom. Now...there's an idea....
