Is it possible to grow trailing vines suitable for hanging baskets by using sweet potato from super market?

They will certainly grow, but what you end up with I am not too sure. Of course they are very tender.

Very few flowers the year I grew sweet potatoes and they need ciopious feeding and watering as well as heat.   Probably better to stick to flowering varieties of ipomea.

  • I tried it, lots of leaves but the flowers were tiny and not worth waiting for.. the foliage was nice and lush but easily took over a large window box, so unless a hanging basket is really bid I’m not sure you could plant anything with them.
