Not thriving...

Morning all,

Have this plant that was given to me by a friend, I don't overwater, repot every two years and sit on windowsill. Has spots mottled areas and is generally not thriving. I only really noticed as I went to another friends house at Christmas and they had one that is fabulous.

Any ideas?

    Mine is going a bit yellow on the older, outer leaves but it doesn't have spots on the young leaves. I've been putting it down to the house having been quite a lot warmer than usual while my parents were staying over Christmas. I pull off the yellow leaves once they've lost all the green.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    @DANWILSON Is it a Pilea? If so it has lots of baby plants as I am sure you have found. I agree remove the old yellowing leaves. I do wonder if something else is happening perhaps a viral or fungal problem, if you have seedlings are they also affected. These types of problems are difficult to confirm without scientific analysis. 

    Checking the roots would be another thought, something you could do without disrupting it too much. 

    If you have a friend with this plant it would be easy to start again with a new seedling if the problem persists.  Fresh compost cleaned pot etc.
    They do grow faster in the spring and summer months but you will soon have a new plant of a good size.

    Suggest you start a new baby plant with fresh pot and compost.
    Normally they are very fast growing and produce lots of baby plants.
    Mine doesn't like to dry out and is happy in a warm well lit position.

    @Silver surfer I had no idea that they flowered. A great plant and easy to grow.

    All plants flower...even if it takes many years before they do so.

    Pilea peperomoides....Pic showing flowers.
    Not sure if these are female flowers or male.
    Found abroad in a hot place.

    They don’t last forever ,it may just be * getting on a bit *.Maybe try grow a new one .

    @Silver surfer  @bcpathome Yes realised after I had written it all plants flower. I hope to see flowers on my plants in the future. I always have some baby Pileas potted up they make nice gifts and are easy to grow. Happy New Year to you both. Suze.
