  • Yesterday was the last day for our cat and she is now in our garden for ever.

I have lost with her my best gardening friend and will need time to find out how to garden without her.

    I my garden.

Oh now I'm in tears. I hadn't read about your beloved cat till now but I know the heartbreak of the loss of a pet. She will always be with you. I had my cat for a very short time and she's been gone a year now but she's still here in spirit.

Sad news. When people lose a pet they don't lose the love, patience, and kindness their pet taught them.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your cat. Losing a loved pet is hard. Gardening will be sad to start with and you will look round for her but the loss will ease with time and you will learn to garden again.

I am sorry to read that @Simone_in_Wiltshire. We lost our old man cat yesterday too, but he'd had a good long life (18 years) before his final illness, and I'm sure yours did too. OH is already enquiring with the local charities about other cats that need homes 🐱

Reading this set me off too!
Hugs to you @Simone_in_Wiltshire, I know what you mean about the garden!
I lost my lovely Ambrose in May after 17 years together and wherever I turn I see him, as he was always there with me, sunbathing, sniffing about in the meadow after voles, or on his 'This is my patch' patrol. He had to have pills daily, which he hated, but he would come and find me wherever I was working to remind me it was time, because he got a little bit of cheese as a reward. Now I can't open a packet of cheese either without welling up!
  • We went to M&S today to find some treats for Charlie's vet and the entire team. While sitting at the cafe, I found all your comments. OH and I were very touched by your lovely words and sharing your thoughts.

@JennyJ and @Buttercupdays our hearts are with you.
You know that cats on the way to heaven tell other cats what doorbell they have to ring to find a new good home. It's no coincidence that inside a few weeks suddenly a cat appears that looks like our cat, asking "take me, take me"

    I my garden.

Oh Simone that's really sad. We've been through it several times so I know how you feel. I can well remember me, middle-aged man, blubbing in front of the vet & nurse who had come out to us and put our Cindy to sleep on my knee. I've started again now!

Give it a week or two, you'll be ready to make a home for a new friend. When we lost our last one (Harry) we vowed not to have another cat. We lasted two months and have now had Harry for 10 wonderful years.
