Montana Clematis

I planted a Montana Clematis - (Evergreen) in the summer and it has grown so so well
However this week after the frost many of the leaves are dying back. I have just added a deep pile of mulch to the base. Have I lost the plant or is it to early to say. Is there anything else I should do
Many thanks
Chris Warwick

It's as @fidgetbones says @chriswarwick55. Perfectly hardy, and deciduous. It'll come away again in spring. The foliage will usually appear after the flowers. They make very big plants, so make sure it has room to grow  :)

I wonder who told you it was evergreen though?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
