As many have said - some are hardy, some aren't. I'd err on the cautious side and keep them somewhere frost free - garage will be fine for now if you know it doesn't get wet &icy, or frosty in it. Our garage was never frost free because it leaked. If you know which type of alstroemeria it is, that will make advice easier though
I'd leave some of the foliage for now, but you can remove the worst stuff if it's defrosted, and is going to be problematic by sitting on the crown of the plant. @Nollie 's suggestion re the straw is good, if you can manage that. You can tip the pots over slightly too, which can often help.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I think some varieties of alstromeria are hardy. I've had Indian Summer in a pot for a few years now, no special care, it is just left to the elements. During winter all the foliage dies down, but it has new foliage in spring and flowers continuously from June to October.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
