Getting a lot of Echium Pininana through the winter

  • As soon as we had some rain this autumn we had a forest of self-down Echium pininana spring up all over the veg patch to keep company with the larger one that grew earlier between two rows of Giant Swiss chard.

I suspect they’re all snuffing it as I type.

Hey ho … there’ll be more space for veg 😊

Insulation only ever slows down temperature changes.  in a really prolonged freeze like we are having a single layer of fleece will be no good at all.  Wind, as in wind-chill can cut through the insulation.

Many plants have a form of antifreeze in their sap.  They will freeze at a range of temperatures.

PLease tell us where you are, it makes a big difference.
