Mushroom, or Aspidistra flower bud?

Just spotted this weird thing in my Aspidistra plant. Thought there was some chance it was a flower bud, but it does smell a bit 'mushroomy'... Does this look familiar to anyone? Can I eat it with my fry up tomorrow?

    Mushroom, I think. I wouldn't like to guess whether it's an edible one.
    Aspidistra flowers come in sprays of little flowers along a stem.  Ignore that, I'm thinking of mother-in-law's tongue. Maybe it is a flower. I can't find a good picture of one before it opens though.

    If it looks like a mushroom, smells like a mushroom and quacks like a mushroom...

    It's not aspidistra. If I remember rightly, they're purplish with brown speckles and the petals( if that's what they are) are thick and pointy.

    It would be very instructive to see how it develops over the next few days. It might be one of the Amanitas, definitely not for the fry-up.

    Deffo a mushroom - I pulled it out because I didn't want it shedding spores all over the place. It didn't extend much below the surface.
