    Best to put it on the rice pudding! None of those plants suffer particularly from any pests.

    Mrs Vaml, your username is not traditionally British (I don't mean this in an unkind way) as does you recommendation of a spice.

    My comments earlier were addressed mainly to a we-never-use-chemicals brigade that is a bit over-pervasive on these forums.
