I sometimes wonder if 'mindlessness' might not suit some situations better, especially when I have one bucket for the compost and another for the rubbish and keep chucking things in the wrong bucket....

  • How lovely to see all these guide books still being used. Fabulous.
Herb Robert is not one of the plants. We have so much of it in our garden that I really do know that none of those shown are it......thankfully. It really does smell when you pull it up.

I have Marjorie Blamey's Illustrated Flora of Britain and Northern Europe (in its French version). A lovely book, with wonderful illustrations.
Just found out that she died aged 101 only 3 years ago. See Marjorie Blamey obituary.
Bought that book new back in 2007 for 45€. Now you can get it new from Amazon for the ludicrous price of 590€.

  • It looks like a plant I have which produces a long spike of pink flowers. I have never been able to identify it but got it from my Mum's garden and she had grown it there since 1954 so it's been divided and divided and divided. Very pretty but as I said I don't know what it is aside from it looks like a rock geranium and isn't !
