Driveway costs - is this a reasonable estimate?

Hi there

I am looking to have my driveway relaid.  I am going for what I had before which is a combination of two rows of slabs (for the car) running the full length of the driveway with gravel inbetween.  I appreciate that this isn't a popular choice these days with most going for monoblock.  I've previously had this and I prefer it to the alternatives.  The reason for my post is I've had three quotes for the work so far with the cheapest being £7,680.  This still seems like a lot of money to me, although I do have a very long drive (60'x11.5').  This does also include all materials, although I am going for a basic buff slab (5cm depth).  The cost also includes several rows of monoblock at the start of the drive to retain the gravel, and renewing drain covers, plus membranes etc.  The slabs should come to just over £800 at most and I believe that I need about 4 tonnes of aggregate at approximately £100 a tonne.

I'd appreciate any feedback as to whether this seems reasonable or not.

Seems reasonable to me.  The main charge will be labour, taking up old stuff and disposing (I had a lorry load).   My drive is on a slope so I had resin bonded gravel, and I paid that for half the distance. It took three men a week.

Always get at least two quotes.

A large part of the cost is going to be disposal of all the stuff they remove.  It costs them an arm and a leg these days.
Without knowing exactly what they will be doing it's difficult to say if the cost is reasonable or not.  For example are they digging up the entire area to a depth which will enable a sub-base to support a vehicle to be laid, or just decorative gravel for the area apart from the slabs.
