Beech or Hawthorn?

Hi, I want to creates two hedges to support wildlife and replace a horrible fence. . one is 15m or so in the back garden and I have already planted Rowan, crab apple and hazel in the garden sso was thinking Hawthorn might complement this nicely? maybe mixed with hazel. but the other in the front garden is only a space of…

I'm late to this thread, but don't rule out Hornbeam either. Does the same job as Beech, but tolerates wetter conditions

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
