I have some nasty fungi looking stuff appear on my fuchias. I have tried cutting it out but it hasn't gone away and now appearing on more plants. It has been suggested that I destroy by burning all the affected plants, but b4 I take such drastic action I would like some second opinions please.

I think this might be fuschia gall mite, but l'm not 100% certain. If it is, it looks like the advice to dig up the plants and burn them is correct.

Hopefully someone can confirm before you need to take such drastic action.

I cut mine down practically to ground level and disposed of prunings in council bin. They all resprouted healthy and have been fine for the last couple of years.
I wouldn't be too quick to destroy the plants.

I agree, it looks like Gall Mite to me, in which case the plants should be disposed of.
How can you lie there and think of England

Sorry to disagree with @punkdoc,   Don’t throw them away just yet,  cut them right down,  take them out of the pots,  put in new compost and store away for the winter in a shed or greenhouse.

  • Thanks guys, I think I'll cut right down to ground level and cover for protection. If it recurs next year I'll dog out and burn.

I think the trick is not to leave any buds for the gall mites to make use of.
