Overwintering Salvia Amistad

Hi, my garden is heavy clay so I have dug up my salvia amistads and potted them up with some old soil.  My plan is just to stick them in the garage until the spring.  Will this be OK?? Do they need watering during this period??

Also I have taken some cuttings which have rooted well and I have potted them on, does the same apply for these??

Many Thanks

The cuttings look great! They are green and growing (although slowly) so they'll need light. The dormant ones don't, until they start into growth (one of yours looks like it's trying to grow already, or is that something else in the pot?). Mine survive outside so they don't need artificial heat. For moisture, check regularly so that they don't get completely dry. Just moist is enough.

  • Thanks Jenny, I think the growth is some of the salvia I didn't cut back enough. Thanks for the advice.
