To Pinch or not to Pinch. That is the question
in Plants
Hi I have some Brompton Stocks grown from seed in the greenhouse.
They are doing well and the plants are ab out 6" tall.
Should I pinch them out at the top.
Can they stay in the greenhouse over winter or is it best to put them out into a
cold frame. The greenhouse can/will be heated during the worst of the winter.

As I recall they produce a big centre spike followed by smaller spikes from the nodes.
If you did pinch them out I guess you'd get more side blooms but no main spike.
I noticed this interesting tip on the T&M site-
As a top tip; Once the seedlings appear you can reduce the temperature down to 5ºC (40ºF), this will result in the seed leaves changing colour slightly, the darker green plants will produce single flowered plants and the lighter seed leaves will result in double flowered plants.
