It's hard to isolate cause and effect, but since we removed our rather spindly eucalyptus, at the behest of our neighbour, the flooding that occurs down the bottom of our garden after heavy rain seemed to worsen. Sometimes we get as much 20 inches. I have ended up putting raised beds down there (which my husband hates). There is probably a reason why there were 5 trees in that part of the garden! Unfortunately we had to remove the apple tree too, and I don't think that's helped either. Probably not ideal to take out the water irises to make way for raised beds, rather, although I don't think that's had a massive effect. A bog garden isn't going to work when the wetness is seasonal. But for us the tree removal could be coincidental or only a partial cause. Other things (blocked culverted stream, perhaps) may have contrinbuted.
