Should my magnolia have little furry buds in November?

Hi All
i have a 2 year old magnolia in a large pot and just noticed it has tiny furry buds. Is that normal for November? Do I need to protect it? Thank you

I have a couple of Magnolias in my garden. My memory is terrible, but i think i planted them about 6/7 years ago. One hasn't flowered yet, but the one that has , Star Wars, developed furry buds in the autumn. Other buds are simply growth buds.  I would say you have furry buds that will flower next year.
I can't give you advice on growing them in pots though.

Yes- perfectly normal, but it'll depend on the variety as to how well it'll thrive in the pot long term.
If it's only growing in compost, you'll need to change that to a soil based medium. Compost isn't enough to sustain shrubs or trees long term  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
