Fox-and-cubs (Pilosella aurantiaca)

Does any one know how to get rid of these (Pilosella aurantaca)? They are very pretty - but are running riot all over my garden.  I've been weeding them out of beds, but they're now spreading all over the lawn - help!

I think the only thing to do is dig them out. Meanwhile don't let them set seed. It's practically the only pretty weed that I deal with ruthlessly.
Can't advise on weedkiller as I don't use it.

  • You could keep it mown, so they can't set seed and gradually dig out the plants and runners or you could add some ox-eye daisies and make the lawn a meadow with either a mown path through or mown edges so it looks deliberate :D
  • You could send some to me... ...bother, it's illegal!  I've tried to get it to grow in my meadow but it flatly refuses.  Other hawkweeds grow fine.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Thanks all.  I'll just keep at it - can't believe I actually planted the seed!
I already have an area that is more or less a wild life meadow, but the lawn is for the kids to play on.

The trouble is that it spreads its leaves flat on the ground so that nothing can grow under them.
