Bare Root Peonies

HenryPHenryP Posts: 52
Hey everyone,

I ordered a few bare root peonies online, which have now arrived. They look in good condition, and they are wrapped in a sort of soil enclosed in plastic. I was wondering how long I could leave them before having to plant them? I've had to go away for a few days and leave them. Will they survive, or do they really need to go in the ground?

Thank you as always for your help :)

I expect they'd be ok, as long as they neither dry out or get waterlogged.
Could you put them into a pot just now, and just tuck them somewhere out of the worst of any weather? Taking the plastic off first of course  ;)
They wouldn't need planted in the ground, so that isn't a problem.  :)

Perfect, thank you @Fairygirl ! I'm back home on Monday but in the meantime I'll be begging my girlfriend to brave the constant Cornish rain and pot them up ASAP  :D

Tell her to man up and get out there @HenryP :D
Unless you have hundreds of them, it won't take more than a few minutes to shove them in a pot  ;)

Just leave them in the Cornish rain until it stops.  No point in doing a job twice.

I think you mean, heeling plants in, very different from healing.
